SEDD receives (SCCI) & (SCTDA)

Sharjah24: Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) received a delegation from Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in order to discuss ways of cooperation, exchange experiences and enhance work between the two parties. Such thing indicate SEDD’s concerns to strengthen work with all government agencies to serve the public interest of Sharjah. The meeting dealt with a number of topics of common interest, including working on a study to develop the hotel sector in particular and the tourism sector in general, due to the importance of the tourism sector and its impact on the emirate's economy.
The delegations were received by Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of SEDD, and a number of directors and heads of sections. The delegation from (SCTDA) was headed by HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, the Chairman, and included number of officials. On the other hand, HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, the Chairman of (SCCI) headed their delegation and was accompanied by Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, SCCI's Director-General. And number of officials. 

The parties discussed many common issues that are in the public interest, where they exchanged ideas on some of the procedures followed. Also, the parties discussed common matters and mechanisms and ways to enhance this cooperation. All of this was done to provide all possibilities for the business sector, investors and customers, and to contribute to achieving sustainable economic development to serve all sectors in Sharjah in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership in the emirate.

For his part, HE Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda, SEDD Chairman, stressed on the importance of cooperation and coordination with the authorities in order to develop the services provided to people in the emirate. Such thing falls within the wise directives of the leadership to simplify and enhance the services provided by government agencies, in a way that enhances the role of the emirate in enhancing tourism, investment and residential attractions and its role in providing an environment encouraging to investment and providing all the necessary facilities. 

Furthermore, HE pointed out that SEDD works within a government work system in which all roles are integrated from all government agencies, institutions and bodies to provide the best services that reflect the emirate's position as a global city that provides the best and finest services in all areas of life. His Excellency praised the efforts of the Commerce and Tourism Development Authority and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for their role in promoting ways of encouraging and attracting investments to take advantage of the opportunities available in the Emirate of Sharjah, as well as developing and simplifying services and upgrading them to the highest levels. Likewise, HE stressed on the importance of holding such meetings between government agencies due to their role in unifying efforts and strengthening action, which contributes to the advancement of Sharjah's position as an attractive destination for investment and investors.

Furthermore, the parties discussed many common issues that are in the public interest. They also reviewed a study carried out by (SCTDA) to study the sub-account for tourism in Sharjah. The ideas were exchanged on the development of the hotel and tourism sector in the emirate, and mechanisms as well as ways to enhance this cooperation between all parties in order to provide all possibilities for the business sector, investors and dealers, and to contribute to achieving sustainable economic development to serve all sectors in Sharjah.

Moreover, (SCTDA) revealed the importance of the tourism sector and its impact on the emirate's economy, as this sector contributes of about 15% of the emirate's economic output, especially in the hotel sector. Therefore, with the development of hotel facilities projects in various parts of the emirate, especially in its Eastern Region, it is expected that this sector will witness a significant increase during the coming period.

The delegation also referred to the employment of competitive elements and unique advantages of Sharjah, which places it as one of the most important tourist destinations locally and globally. Also, it works to provide ways to raise the profile of Sharjah as a unique tourist destination, an ideal environment and the best choice for all, supported by the main factors that give the emirate excellence and uniqueness at all levels. The Authority works to cooperate, work and coordinate closely with strategic partners from the public and private sectors to develop and improve the workflow in the tourism sector.

From its side, (SCCI) delegation stressed on the importance of tourism to the emirate's economy to attract international brands and hotel operators. They also emphasized the Chamber's keenness to continue its efforts to support the business community in Sharjah by creating all means to support them and to foresee innovative initiatives that would preserve the business of the private sector and increase incentives to support it. This is done to enhance the process of economic growth and prosperity and keep pace with the developments in the Emirate. Likely, it helped at achieving economic sustainability and promoting economic diversification, which is a constant pillar in the economic policy of the emirate.

It should be noted that attendees agreed on the importance of Emiratisation in the tourism sector in the emirate and the need to motivate young citizens to work in various fields of tourism, including the hotel sector.
