SDIA announces Ramadan’s programme

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Directorate of Islamic Affairs (SDIA) has announced its Ramadan programme, which includes a variety of outreach activities and events that are commensurate with the holy month's status and contribute to religious awareness among various segments of society, in line with the directorate's mission of promoting Islamic culture and enhancing mosques’ position.
His Excellency Abdullah Khalifa Yaroof Al Suboosi, Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Islamic Affairs, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and blessings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, their brothers their Highnesses Sheikhs, Supreme Council Members, Rulers of the Emirates, and the people and residents of the United Arab Emirates on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan. 

Al Saboosi stated that the directorate has opened 25 new mosques as part of its plan to open 30 mosques throughout the holy month in various regions of the Emirate's cities to reflect His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's vision of providing a decent life for the Emirate's residents and facilitating their access to places of worship.

As part of its Ramadan programmes, the directorate provides daily teachings after the Asr Prayer about fasting and its ethics, as well as lessons in the interpretation of the Holy Qur'an on Mondays and Thursdays following Tarawih Prayer.

The directorate has also designated some mosques for non-Arab communities, where lessons and reflections are held in English, Urdu, and Malayalam during the month of Ramadan.

According to the Chairman of Islamic Affairs, the Ramadan programme includes three virtual seminars for Sharjah employees via the Zoom platform, in collaboration with the Department of Human Resources, as well as 45 lectures at government institutions.

Furthermore, the directorate issued six new publications for distribution to mosques’ attendees and the general public.

Al Saboosi remarked that the directorate has devised a series of activities and events for Ramadan that would be broadcast on the directorate's official social media accounts.
