Sharjah 24: The delicate swirls and highly stylised forms of Arabic calligraphy - an integral part of the Arab identity, are drawing global audiences at the Sharjah Guest of Honour (GoH) pavilion at the 59th Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) where sophisticated works of renowned Emirati and Arab artists are on display.
The aesthetic skills of Emirati calligrapher Khalid Al Jallaf are also attracting crowds to the pavilion who are eager to see their names written in the ornamental forms and techniques of various Arabic scripts including Thuluth, Naskh and Diwani.
At BCBF, the Sharjah Pavilion is presenting the richness of Arab and Emirati cultural experience to the world, enabling the fair’s visitors to gain insights into Arab music, art, and heritage. The pavilion is also a networking platform for authors and publishers to discuss challenges and opportunities in the Arabic children’s book industry and is providing a stimulating space for knowledge exchange.
