Speaking at the ceremony, Brigadier General Dr. Mohammad Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Police Academy, said that the Academy crowned today, a work journey that spanned 25 years of giving, as the first of July 1996 was a milestone as on that date His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued a decision to stabilise the pillars of security and maintain stability, through the establishment of this distinguished security edifice.
He added that the Academy has sincerely and responsibly strived to live up to His Highness aspirations, and for the academy to be a pioneer in establishing the pillars of security and stability throughout the UAE.
Al Othmani added, “Undoubtedly, the decision to establish this academic security edifice, and to choose its unique location among other universities, academies and educational institutions in the University City to achieve integration, revealed His Highness’s insightful vision with the aim of developing and upgrading the security work system so that the Emirate of Sharjah becomes more capable of dealing with security data, future changes and shaping the form of life in it, within the framework of its unique journey towards excellence, success and creativity.”
The Director General of the Academy touched on many of the Academy’s achievements, including academic programmes in various police sciences, tens of conferences and scientific symposia, as well as cooperation agreements with major universities, educational institutions, local and international research centres, and hundreds of scientific publications, studies and research, in addition to numerous awards in various specialisations and the graduation of hundreds of officers from the UAE and the Gulf, Arab and Islamic countries, and many other achievements.
Brigadier Al Othmani congratulated His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Academy's board, on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the Academy.
He also congratulated the graduates of the 22nd batch on the occasion of their graduation, which took place at the fiftieth ceremony in Al Wasl Square in Expo 2020 Dubai, along with their peers from the Abu Dhabi Police College and the Dubai Police Academy, wishing them success in bearing responsibility, preserving the security of the homeland, and defending and safeguarding its gains.
Then, the students of the Academy presented a distinguished military parade, in which directors and heads of departments, officers, non-commissioned officers, individuals and women police, from various departments of the Sharjah Police participated.
The ceremony also saw a show of drones that formed pictures of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the Crown Prince and the Deputy Rulers of Sharjah. It also featured a lyric operetta about the efforts and achievements of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the Academy's achievements over the past 25 years, and its role in qualifying and graduating national military cadres.
After the show, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi honoured the top 22 graduates of the officer cadet class before he received the Silver Jubilee Shield from the Academy’s Director General in appreciation of and gratitude to him for honouring the Silver Jubilee ceremony with his presence.
Then, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, posed for commemorative photos with the graduates of the 22nd batch.
Following the ceremony, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Vice-Chairman of the Academy board, handed the graduates their certificates, and urged them to live up to expectations of their leadership and people in saving lives and property, and ensuring the protection of the homeland and its stability, defending its borders and its gains.
The Silver Jubilee Ceremony was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office. Also present were senior officials, heads of government departments and police commanders, senior officers of the Ministry of Interior and members of the Academy board, directors of military academies and colleges in the UAE and some Gulf and Arab countries, as well as a number of senior officers, officials, and military attachés in the embassies of brotherly and friendly countries in the UAE.
