The meeting, which was held recently at the Khatmat Milaha Border in Kalba, was attended by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs, Chairman of the Committee; Mohammed Ahmed Al Kuwaiti, Acting Director General of the General Department of Ports Security; Brigadier Younis Al Hajri, Director of the Ports and Airports Police Department at Sharjah Police; Colonel Dr. Omar Al Owais, Director of the Ports Passports Department at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs; Dr. Hamad Al-Mashghouni, Director of the Inspection Department at the General Authority of Ports, Borders and Free Zones Security; and a number officers and officials.
Welcoming the attendees, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi stressed that the meeting comes within the framework of the joint keenness of both sides to coordinate efforts to advance the performance of ports and border points in the Emirate of Sharjah, improve operations, simplify procedures and develop services for customers and travelers, noting that the meeting discussed many important topics that centered on achieving these goals. Several issues related to the Khatmat Milaha Border in Kalba and border points in Dibba Al Hisn, and ways to provide and facilitate services for travelers, as well as enhancing the sector with electronic services and advanced technologies, were also reviewed during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed, inter alia, the latest developments related to the will-be implemented project of the smart land ports system.
Al Raisi praised FAICCPS great efforts for implementing the smart land ports system project, which is a vital project, and constitutes an integrated system to facilitate travelers’ movement and reduce the time for completing their travel procedures, as well as a qualitative addition to the port services.
The Organisational Committee of Ports and Border Points in Sharjah is keen to coordinate with various competent authorities working in the ports and border points, with the aim of strengthening partnership and cooperation mechanisms, ensuring the activation of security and customs controls and procedures, and regulating the entry and exit of people and goods according to the highest international standards.
