With a production capacity of 3000 kVA, the project aims to meet the region’s growing demand until 2027, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide the best services to all regions.
Engineer Youssef Al Hammadi, director of the Khorfakkan power plant and water desalination plant, explained that the implementation of the project will contribute to enhancing energy efficiency in the region, reducing energy loss, and meeting population increase and urban expansion.
He pointed out that a contract to develop the project was made with Aggreko company, to develop, operate and maintain Nahwa power plant, and provide it with the latest diesel generators.
The Director of SEWA’s Khorfakkan Department, Eng. Ahmed Al Mulla, said that Nahwa is mountainous and of special environmental nature, so the authority was keen that the new generators should have special environmental specifications, commensurate with the expansion of the infrastructure in the area. He added that the authority worked to take all measures that ensure maintaining the efficiency of the generators, and reducing emergencies.
