Sharjah 24: The Conservation Department of Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) intensified efforts during the month of February 2022, implementing 15 workshops and events to educate school students and employees about the correct methods of rationalising electricity and water. More than 1209 employees and students benefited from these events.
Engineer Ghada Juma Salem, Director of the Conservation Department at SEWGA, explained that the activities organised by the department during the month of March included workshops for employees in several entities, including the Sharjah Statistics Centre, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services and Al Bataeh Cultural and Sports Club, with the aim of instilling a culture of rationalisation and the importance of preserving resources and raising employees awareness on saving electricity and water.
Workshops were also held at the Chess and Culture Club for Ladies in Sharjah and the Sharjah Government Media Bureau entitled “Rationalising is in Your Hands to Achieve Sustainability, Preserving the Rights of Future Generations and Reducing the Consumption of Electricity and Water”. 107 employees benefited from the awareness workshops.
Engineer Ghada Juma Salem pointed out that the Conservation Department focused, during the February events, on school students by organising interactive workshops and innovative initiatives that benefited 1102 male and female students with the aim of instilling a culture of rationalisation in the younger generations, developing a sense of responsibility and motivating them to responsibly use energy and water.
Engineer Ghada Juma Salem added that by implementing the initiative of the young guide at Al Baseer Private School over a period of 3 days, and in conjunction with the month of innovation, the Conservation Department presented a remote awareness workshop for third-grade students at Al Baseer School entitled “Rationalising Tomorrow’s Generations on the importance of rationalisation in society and the most important rationalisation practices in the consumption of electricity and water”. The workshop also tackled a discussion where students presented innovative ideas to spread the culture of rationalisation in society.
An educational workshop was introduced to students of the first to third grades at Al Zohour Private School in Sharjah on rationalising electricity and water consumption.
A delegation from the Conservation Department visited the Sharjah Charity International to discuss aspects of joint cooperation and coordination to implement joint initiatives in the field of energy rationalisation and saving.
