Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council received the award in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Faris Al Nabulsi, representative of the Prime Minister, the Jordanian Minister of Youth; Ashraf Mahmoud, President of the Arab Sports Culture Association, and Hassan Massoud, President of the Jordan Sport Culture Asoociation.
The new title was received thanks to the Sharjah Sports Council’s keenness to inculcating the values and ideals in the activities and events it organises and making sport a societal culture. The diverse and inclusive sporting events targeting different groups and ages, including championships for the disabled and women, in addition to protecting heritage, preserving Arab identity and achieving sustainable development were other reasons for winning such a prestigious title.
During the ceremony, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council delivered a speech in which he expressed appreciation and gratitude for Sharjah receiving the award and said that it is a worthy addition to the list of awards that the emirate has previously received thanks to the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his consolidation of values and principles in all fields. He added that the new title coincided with the golden jubilee of His Highness accession as the Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah.
He added that sports and culture in the smiling emirate are two sides of the same coin, and that the council’s work strategy translates the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah with regard to establishing values and ideals in the first place, while striving to making achievements and raising the country’s flag at international forums.
