Sharjah24: Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality organised the 42nd National Afforestation Week in Sharjah , which lasted for one week, from 1 to 7 of March.
The main objective of the event was to raise the awareness of the community members about the importance of afforestation and strengthening their role in spreading and preserving the green area, and taking care of the plants in the local environment.
During the afforestation week, the municipality's crews distributed 5,000 seedlings of various types to many government institutions in the virtuous city, as well as to the residents to encourage them to plant.
A number of events, activities and educational workshops specialized in the fields of agriculture were organized, in addition to various competitions that include valuable prizes.
Dibba Al-Hisn Municipality's website contains an "Agricultural Consultant" service, in order to provide advice to families and residents on how to take care of their home gardens and encourage them to plant.
Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, Director of Dibba Al Hisn City Municipality, said: "The Municipality of Dibba Al Hisn City pays great attention to agriculture based on its responsibility to increase green spaces and protect the environment in a manner that ensures the achievement of a distinct aesthetic appearance of the city.
Al Yahyai called on all residents of the city to participate in such events, by planting a "tree" in home gardens, with the aim of increasing the green area in all parts of the country.
