SBA celebrates World Radio Day

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Radio, "Plus 95", the “Holy Quran” and "Watar" channels, affiliated with Sharjah Broadcast Authority (SBA), celebrated the World Radio Day, where they organised a number of interactive events and programmes, during which they presented the importance of radio for different society groups.
To celebrate this occasion, the radio broadcasted from its studio, a special programme from four to five in the afternoon, entitled “Our Information is Our Identity” by presenters Aisha Al Hammoudi and Hazza Al Shehhi, where the programme received calls from listeners from the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain. The programme also received calls from former broadcasters in the UAE who recalled their memories and experiences in radio, in addition to talking about the great and historical role of radio in communicating with the masses to provide knowledge, entertainment, awareness and promoting intercultural dialogue.

Sharjah Radio presented from five to six in the evening a special programme for entertainment and competitions, which saw a wide area of communication and interaction from radio fans, during which questions were asked about the World Radio Day, in addition to general cultural questions, and the radio distributed valuable prizes to the audience.

Sharjah Radio organised a photo exhibition that included pictures chronicling the radio's journey since its launch in 1972, and the developments over the years, and provided studios equipped with the latest technologies in the field of media, whether during live broadcasts or recording programmes.

Abeer Al Shawi, Director of Sharjah Radio, stressed the important and strong role of radio in interacting with people, noting that this media outlet still maintains its historical position as an effective means of communication with the public, by presenting entertainment, development and educational programmes, and being one of their sources to receive news on the most prominent local, regional and international issues.

Saif Abdul Rahman Al Shalal, Director of Radio Plus 95, said that the World Radio Day represents an opportunity to celebrate radio, which is close to the public despite the tremendous development that humanity has witnessed in the field of communication.

Saif Abdul Rahman Al Shalal confirmed that Radio Plus 95 seeks to be the audience main means of receiving information and exchanging news, by preparing and presenting qualitative and high-quality content that meets their aspirations in different cultures.
