Sharjah24: The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority ( SCTDA) has announced the launch of the 11th edition of Sharjah Lights Festival 2022, under the slogan "Echoes from the Future", over 12 days of exciting shows and exciting events that will start from February 9 to 20, in various cities and landmarks of the Emirate of Sharjah.
This came during a press conference organised by SCTDA yesterday evening in the municipality of Al Hamriya in Sharjah, in the presence of His Excellency Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, and a number of officials, directors and employees of departments and of government agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah, in addition to a number of media representatives.
In his speech during the conference, His Excellency Khalid Jassim Al Midfa emphasised that Sharjah Lights Festival, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who supports the development of the tourism sector, returns with its renewed edition under the slogan "Echoes from the Future", to display the development and progress of the emirate, and to present artistic visualizations of the scene of its bright future, in colorful stories that decorate the landmarks and destinations of the emirate.
Sharjah Lights Festival presents 10 dazzling light shows in various parts of the Emirate of Sharjah including, Al Majaz Waterfront, University City Hall, the Holy Quran Academy, Al Noor Mosques, Al Hamriya District Municipality, government buildings in Kalba and the Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Mosque in Dibba Al Hisn, the Rafisah Dam in Khorfakkan, the food carts area opposite the University City Hall, which is attended by more than 30 participants from the owners of small and medium projects in the field of food, beverages, sweets and others.
On the other hand, during the press conference, a number of competitions for the festival were announced, which are directed to all media as well as the general public. Three categories were allocated to the media, namely: the first category of journalists, which includes the best coverage in Arab newspapers and the best coverage in English newspapers. The second category includes the most beautiful image in Arab newspapers, and the most beautiful image in English newspapers. The third category is the category of social media platforms, and it includes the most beautiful media coverage of the festival on the Instagram platform.
As for the festival’s second competition, which was allocated to the general public, it will be via social media platforms on the official account of the competition on the Instagram platform @visit_shj, and major cash prizes totaling more than 20 thousand dirhams were allocated, for the 3 most beautiful photographs taken during the days of the festival.
