Sharjah 24: In response to the global tourism sector's gradual recovery, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) launched its promotional tour for this year in the Russian market, which includes the cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, with the goal of introducing Russian tourism companies to the Emirate of Sharjah's most prominent tourism components and the preventive measures that the emirate and the United Arab Emirates are taking to ensure the safety of all visitors, in order to strengthen Sharjah's position as a preferred family and leisure tourism destination in the region.
The tour kicked off on October 5 in the Russian capital, Moscow, and then moved on to the cultural capital, Saint Petersburg, on October 7.
The authority seeks to shed light on Sharjah's development and tourism initiatives, as the emirate offers an unparalleled array of tourism experiences, including mountain and environmental adventures, beach, desert, and recreational activities for the entire family.
Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, stated that the promotional tour aims to boost incoming tourism to the Emirate of Sharjah from the Russian market, particularly given that Russia was and continues to be one of Sharjah's first and leading three leisure and tourism markets. He noted that the authority collaborates with a variety of tourism sectors to provide distinctive accommodation alternatives and packages, as well as interesting tourism products.
Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), expressed his delight at the authority's global tours, saying: "We are pleased to join the delegation of the Emirate of Sharjah, led by the Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, on its visit to the Russian Federation. We have had excellent economic links for a long period of time, and we look forward to using this visit to advance those relations in the interest of the two economies by exploring additional potential for economic cooperation and partnership.”
Manal Ataya, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, emphasized the importance of the authority's participation in the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority's promotional tour of the Emirate of Sharjah in order to promote the Emirate in Moscow. The tour includes visits to several renowned Russian institutions, including the State Hermitage Museum and the Museum of Scientific Experiments.
"At the Sharjah Museums Authority, we reaffirm our commitment not only to welcoming tourists to Sharjah, but also to provide them with cultural activities that will enrich their experiences and increase their understanding of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates," she added.
