Financial Committee of SCC discusses general budget for 2022

Sharjah 24: The Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee of Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) discussed a draft law on the government’s general budget for 2022, after the Chairman of the Council referred the draft law to the committee in charge to be discussed at the meeting that will be held on December 27.
Held on December 26 at the SCC headquarters, the meeting was chaired by Ali Mehad Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the SCC, attended by Saif Mohammed Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee of the Council along with Sharjah Finance Department’s officials.

the meeting discussed the draft law on the general budget of Sharjah government departments and bodies for 2022.

The members of the committee reviewed the budget, discussed its articles for 2022, and reviewed the contained figures from the departments and entities which were explained by the SFD.

Waleed Ibrahim Al Sayegh, Director General of SFD, gave a detailed explanation of the budget, reviewing the statement of comparison of revenues and expenditures for the general budget 2022. 

He furtherly pointed out that the budget for 2022 emphasizes continuing the implementation of service projects, infrastructure, and human advancement in various areas including health, social and educational development, translating the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Saif Mohammed Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee of SCC, pointed out the importance of meeting with representatives of SFD and reviewing the budget of Sharjah government for 2022.

He pointed out SCC’s role in reviewing the general budget before approving it, stating that the committee provides its amendments and recommendations on the budget, especially that it comes after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for a return of normality, and continues the development in all sectors.

Al Midfa added that the committee presented, during the meeting, several visions about what was mentioned in it in terms of figures, both in the field of revenues and expenditures, and it will submit its report to SCC for presentation in its 6th meeting, held on December 27.
