Sharjah24: In a move aimed at providing talents from around the world an opportunity to participate in the 13th edition of the Sharjah Munshid programme, online auditions for the contest have been announced from December 18 to January 2, 2022.
Sharjah Munshid is organised by Sharjah TV - an affiliate of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA). The programme turns the spotlight on exceptional young vocal talents, ‘munshids’ practising the Islamic-inspired musical genre of ‘anashid’.

Those wishing to participate in the 13th edition of the programme can send a video of their performance to the official website: http://www.munshidsharjah.ae/, and a jury committee consisting of famous munshid’s Mohammed Zaki, and Ahmed Radwan, who   will evaluate and select eligible contestants to compete for the Sharjah Munshid thirteenth edition title.

Platform for stardom

Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, Director of Sharjah TV, said: “Sharjah Munshid has grown into a launch pad for exceptionally talented ‘munshids’ who propagate the meaningful art in the community. For this edition, we have facilitated online auditions to enable talented ‘munshids’ from around the world to participate in the programme which has become a platform for stardom.”

“SBA has designed the programme to discover and support promising singers, giving them the opportunity to join a distinguished list of Sharjah Munshids who have achieved stardom on the platform which has gained a global audience over the past 15 years since its inception,” he added.

The first edition of the annual Sharjah Munshid programme was launched in 2006, and ever since it has introduced many talented munshids from Arab and non-Arab countries to the public. This year’s edition will be receiving applications for auditions from December 18, 2021, to January 1, 2022, in the UAE, KSA, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, and Algeria, and until January 2, 2022, for online auditions from around the world.
