Sharjah Ports to facilitate UAE and Omani citizens movement

Sharjah 24: During a meeting with a delegation from the Royal Oman Police, in Dibba Al Hisn City Council, the Organisational Committee of Border Ports and Points in Sharjah discussed ways to enhance joint work and mutual coordination between both sides, to strengthen relations.
Both parties discussed mechanisms to facilitate the movement of citizens and visitors of the two brotherly countries through the ports and border points, and to review the facilities movement of goods, within the framework of the two parties’ keenness to improve the performance of operations, simplify procedures and develop services provided to customers and travellers from ports and border points.

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs, Chairman of the Committee, welcomed the attendees, stressing that this meeting comes within the framework of the committee’s endeavour to implement the directives of the Government of Sharjah and embody its interest and recommendations in providing facilities at the ports and border points with the Sultanate of Oman, which is considered an essential role for the Organisational Committee, which always seeks to improve the work system and rely on services 

Al Raisi said that such facilities will contribute to developing and facilitating the movement of trade and travellers with the Sultanate of Oman, and reducing the time for completing the required procedures.

He indicated that both sides reached an agreement to launch a hotline to coordinate cooperation in dealing with emergency cases. A proposed conception was also discussed to develop border points in Dibba Al Hisn and turn them into official outlets, which would improve the performance of the ports and border points in the Emirate and improve the quality of services.

The meeting discussed mechanisms for dealing with emergencies and humanitarian cases to facilitate their movement across borders, reviewing the entry protocols for students and educational staff and the facilities provided in this regard, as well as facilitating movement of medical staff and ensuring the speedy completion of their transactions. 

The Omani side commended the efforts of the Organisational Committee for Border Ports and Points in Sharjah for the services and initiatives it provides that confirm the brotherly relations between the people of the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE.
