Sharjah24: A study carried out by the Research and Studies Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) on comparing electricity and water consumption during the summer months and winter months in different sectors during the period from 2018 to 2020 revealed that the residential sector consumes the most electricity with 45% of the total quantities in the summer months at Sharjah, while the industrial sector is the least consuming during the summer months, as it 10% of the consumed electricity.
The study confirmed an increase in the percentage of electricity consumption in the residential sector during the summer months compared to the winter months, where the rate of increase amounted to 266.45% in 2018, during 2019 it increased by 270.75 % and in 2020 by 305.40%. With regard to the percentage of water consumption in the residential sector, it increased during the summer months than the winter months by 3.75% in 2018, 3.63% in 2019 and 12.52% in 2020.
In the industrial sector, the study showed an increase in the percentage of electricity consumption during the summer months compared to the winter months by 25.82% in 2018, by 24.57% in 2019 and by 49.73% in 2020, and the industrial sector came the least in increasing electricity consumption during the summer months than the winter months, and the percentage of consumption increased Water increased by 20.78% in 2018, by 5.36% in 2019 and by 14.3% in 2020.
In the commercial sector, the study confirmed an increase in electricity consumption during the summer months compared to the winter months by 126.23% in 2018, by 122.99% in 2019 and by 119.64% in 2020, and the percentage of water consumption during the summer months compared to the winter months increased by 21.04% in 2018 and by 7.85% in 2019 and the percentage of water consumption decreased During the summer months compared to the winter months in 2020, by 1.50%
In the government sector, the percentage of electricity consumption during the summer months compared to the winter months increased by 93.60% in 2018, by 114.69% in 2019 and by 89.13% in 2020, and the percentage of water consumption during the summer months increased by 28.86% in 2018, by 73.50% in 2019 and by 32.28% in 2020.
