Sharjah24: The emergency offices of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) began implementing a preventive maintenance programme and protection of 11 kV transformers and sub-distribution panels in various areas of Sharjah, where maintenance of 638 transformers and distribution panels was completed in October.
Building on this, Dr. Eng. Hassan Al Zarooni, Director of the Electricity Services Department, confirmed that SEWA is working with its full capacity to implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in providing the security and protection for transformers, developing networks in all regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, achieving stability in the network , providing services in line with the latest international specifications, reviewing of extensions, completing maintenance work,  continuing follow-up of all stations, distribution panels, transformers and networks.

Al Zarooni affirmed that the authority has prepared specific programmes for the periodic and preventive maintenance work that take place in winter; when the percentage of loads decreases, and periodic maintenance work begins in October and ends in April.

Engineer Abdul Rahman Karam, Director of Electricity Emergency Offices, revealed that the maintenance work for stations, distribution panels, connections and electrical transformers implemented by SEWA in Sharjah includes the renewal and change of a number of connections and cables and the replacement of a number of transformers with new ones in order to avoid any interruption and reduce emergency cases.

He affirmed that SEWA receives any comments or suggestions from subscribers and works to meet their requirements, and technicians conduct tours in various areas to follow up maintenance work, evaluate the conditions of power lines and transformers, and perform immediate maintenance.
