Captain Saud Al Shaiba, Director of the Traffic Awareness and Media Branch at Sharjah Police, confirmed that the five main causes of traffic accidents in Sharjah in 2021 are excessive speed, Being distracted by anything while driving, not leaving safe distance behind vehicles, and Lack of lane discipline, the wrong crossing.
Captain Al Shaiba pointed out that the commitment of drivers and road users to the regulations and laws in force in the UAE ensures their safety, noting that this will not be achieved without the drivers’ cooperation with the police.
Captain Fahd Al Balushi, Director of the External Roads of Sharjah Police, spoke about traffic security measurements in winters, such as spreading awareness messages to campers and setting requirements for families that camp near external roads. He called on cyclists to abide by traffic law to achieve public safety.
Major Hamad Al Tunaiji, Acting Head of Technical Inspection at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department of Sharjah Police, stressed the keenness of the Department to educate drivers of semi-trailers users of the need to adhere to traffic laws, including tire safety ensuring the validity of the semi-trailer’s chassis.
