Engineer Ghada Juma Salem added that the Conservation Department at SEWA has developed the art of communication mechanisms with different age groups to enhance their participation in the environmental protection and instill a culture of rationalising energy and water consumption, especially children and school students, instilling noble values from a young age.
Her Excellency Salha Ghabish, Chairperson of the Cultural and Media Office at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, owner and head of Saddiqat Publishing House, explained that the first series of children’s comics entitled “Beckman My Friend,” tells a short story about fictional characters, for children. The series gives the necessary information on the importance of rationalising energy consumption, especially during peak times, which contributes to preserving the environment. The comics idea is based on a message to the community to preserve natural resources. The story is a conversation between Obaid, his mother and his friend Saif and the fictional character, Beckman who explains in a very interesting and simple way the importance of rationalisation in two small villages, one of which enjoys electricity and the other has lost electricity sources, whereas he explains the daily difficulty without electricity
Her Excellency Salha Ghabish pointed to the positive interaction with the story by learning the methods of rationalisation, especially during peak times, and getting acquainted with the rationalisation hour initiative organised annually by SEWA on the first of July from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.
Her Excellency Salha Ghabish concluded that many SIBF visitors interacted and bought the series to apply its content.
