Sharjah 24: As part of the Sharjah Awqaf Department’s keenness to revive and raise community awareness on the Sunnah of Waqf (endowment), Sharjah Awqaf Department organised a virtual meeting within its series of endowment meetings under the title “Corporate Social Responsibility and Role in Supporting and Developing Endowments”, by Dr. Walid Al Wakeel from Al Qasimia University.
The meeting tackled the definition of social responsibility, and the UAE's international leading role in this field, in addition to an explanation of the endowment's relation with social responsibility.
Talib Al Marri, Director General of Sharjah Awqaf Department, stated that organising such meetings comes within the framework of the efforts exerted by the Department to consolidate the culture of social and humanitarian responsibility; to support community work in the private sector to perform its role in serving and contributing to the UAE development process. Al Marri added that the Department seeks to promote a culture of endowment sustainability, whereas endowment is one of the best tools for comprehensive development, and under the Islamic civilisation, endowment has become a great institution with social, economic, cultural and human dimensions, as it has become a living embodiment of tolerance, giving and solidarity that meets the needs of society.
