Sharjah 24: Students of the colleges and academies of the Emirate of Sharjah compete to win cash prizes from the competitions programme "Medmar Al Maarefa", which is shown by Sharjah TV of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), every Saturday at 2:00 PM.
The idea of the programme, which will broadcast the first episodes of its new edition, on Saturday, is based on the competition between two teams, each team representing a university or college from the academic edifices in the Emirate of Sharjah, to answer a set of questions in various fields including language, literature, history, geography, sports and physics.
The competitions of the programme, presented by Jamal Al Mulla, are divided into two stages. The first is the speed track stage, which includes 10 questions for each team. The team needs to answer them within one minute, and each correct answer equals one point. The team that collects more points is the winner in this stage.
The second stage is the culture challenge stage, during which each team is asked 7 various questions, and each question has 4 options, except for the visual question, which has no options, and each correct answer without using an aid means the team gets four points.
At this stage, the team must answer the question within 30 seconds, and it has 4 aids that it can use at any time in the 60-minute episode, but if the team uses one of the aids, the value of the correct answer drops from 4 points to only 2 points.
Any team that answers all the questions without any error can collect 38 points, each of the points of the winner is equivalent to 1000 dirhams, and each of the points of the losing team is equivalent to 250 points.
The University of Sharjah, the American University of Sharjah, Al Qasimia University, Higher Colleges of Technology, the Sharjah Police Science Academy and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Sharjah Branch (AASTS) are participating in the new edition of the programme's competitions.
SBA has allocated a competition for the audience at home with an image of one of the landmarks of Sharjah. They must reassemble this image in its correct form, and it has been allocated 3 prizes, the first value of 3000 dirhams, the second 2000 dirhams, and the third 1000 dirhams, and the winner will be the one with the fastest time in assembling the image.
