Sharjah24: The Parents Council of Male and Female Students (PCMFS) in the city of Dibba Al Hisn, affiliated to the Sharjah Education Council, hosted the elderly members of the Al-Asala Club of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), Dibba Al-Hisn Branch, offering them a number of various programs.
The hosting came on Friday evening within the framework of the celebration of the International Day for Older Persons, and the program included several activities and a dialogue session, including welcoming the audience and a heritage art activity.
The event comes in line with the objectives of the occasion of the International Day for Older Persons, as part of the “Rakaez” initiative, which aims to achieving community support to enhance educational and social programs.
At the end of the activities, all the 60 elderly members were honoured. The program included field visits to the elderly to greet and honour them.
In this regard, Maryam Rashid Al-Maamari, Head of the Activities Committee of the Council, said this celebration aims to promote the elderly’s participation in the community, as well as to invest their positive energies in community participation.
She added that the celebration of the International Elderly Day translates the goals of the national policy for senior citizens, as well as the efforts of the wise leadership in the field of development, empowerment and activating the active life of the elderly at the state level.
