Sharjah 24: The "Little Hearts" campaign, which provides medical care for children with cardiac diseases in the countries covered by Sharjah Charity International (SCI), in addition to the assistance provided by SCI to heart patients inside the country, is one of the most important medical campaigns carried out by the Sharjah Charity International outside the UAE on an ongoing basis.
According to the SCI report, on the occasion of World Heart Day, celebrated on 29th September of every year, the number of surgeries carried out since the start of the project in 2009 until the end of last year, was about 1200 catheterisation and open-heart surgeries, in India, Bangladesh, Senegal, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan, Tanzania and Tajikistan.
The association runs organised campaigns consisting of a specialised medical staff headed by Dr. Ahmed Al Kamali, to the countries covered by the SCI work and projects.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, SCI’s Executive Director, said that as part of SCI endeavours to focus on the work that directly touches the necessary human needs, especially health and education, the “Little Hearts” campaign was launched to provide care for children with cardiac diseases and urgently need to be operated.
SCI runs medical campaigns where a medical team is available to perform surgeries for children in developing countries, and to pay the campaign costs from benefactors donations, noting that the project does a great job by using benefactors donations while bringing joy to the beneficiaries souls and families.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem added that during the last year, SCI helped about 145 cases in the UAE, paying the costs of surgeries for a number of cardiac patients, such as catheterisation and open heart surgeries, in addition to providing medicines to the cases registered in the SCI registry.
Bin Khadem concluded by thanking all those who contributed and donated to this great project and campaign affecting the lives of many people.
