Sharjah24: The Department of Municipalities Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock (DMAAL) in Sharjah signed a memorandum of understanding with the General Directorate of Civil Defense (GDCD), regarding the regulation of procedures and controls for installing fire detection systems in residential homes and the mechanism for their implementation.
The memorandum aims to implement preventive awareness programs, which include field visits to works carried out in residential homes in coordination with the municipalities and concerned authorities, and electronic linkage between the systems of the two parties and the municipalities of the emirate with the aim of exchanging data and information related to residential homes in order to simplify procedures and improve data accuracy.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of Sharjah Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Department, and Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of Civil Defense in Sharjah.
The memorandum of understanding stipulated the approval of designs and specifications for fire detection systems in residential homes, the approval of leading companies for installment, and the agreement on the technical controls and requirements for the installation of fire detection devices for the General Directorate of Civil Defense in residential homes. The memorandum also provided for cooperation and coordination with municipalities to enhance the importance of installing a fire detection system to preserve lives and property.
His Excellency Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji stressed that the Memorandum of Understanding comes in line with DMAAL's keenness to enhance the aspects of understanding between the two parties, achieve a fruitful strategic partnership, and promote community participation to achieve a common goal, contributing in supporting the development initiatives that serve the residents of the Emirate of Sharjah. It also provides an opportunity to develop constructive and lasting relationships.
For his part, Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi stressed the keenness of the General Department of Civil Defense to strengthen its partnership with all government institutions related to its fields of work, aiming to unify joint efforts and exchange experiences that would contribute effectively to achieving security and safety for all members of society.
He praised the signing of the cooperation agreement, emphasising that it comes in accordance with the instructions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the directives of the government of the United Arab Emirates represented by the Ministry of Interior, in support of the quality of life strategy.
