Sharjah 24: Under the supervision of Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President and Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF), the Sharjah Art Foundation hosts the exhibitions "The Rain Forever Will be Made of Bullets" and " When I Count, There Are Only You" in its summer exhibitions programme 2021.
The exhibitions include works from previous exhibitions and Sharjah Biennials, which will be on display in Al Mureijah Art Spaces until October 1st.
In addition to chosen works from earlier exhibitions, Sharjah Biennials, or other Foundation projects, the two exhibitions feature a collection of modern holdings that the Foundation is showcasing for the first time.
The collection, which incorporates artistic movements from the 1920s to the present, has flourished and grown to become one of the most important collections in the Middle East.
The exhibition "When I Count, There Are Only You" explores the role of artists in society and offers insight into the ideas, visions, and radical perspectives of humanism expressed through the works of eight well-known artists.
The exhibition "The Rain Forever Will be Made of Bullets" has works by four well-known artists that have previously been shown at the Foundation. A collection of freshly acquired sculptures and paperwork are also on display.
The Sharjah Art Foundation's holdings span a wide spectrum of art genres and visual culture, with over 1,300 pieces dating from the 1920s to the present.
Collections have grown over two decades as a result of acquisitions and commissions by the Sharjah Biennial, in addition to the Foundation's year-round exhibitions and commissioning programmes, and reflect the Emirate of Sharjah's history as a major regional trade route, as well as the link that connects different cultures through modern and contemporary art.
