Sharjah 24: To enhance the ability of public speaking and develop practical skills for passionate young adults, Sharjah Youth (SY) under Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators have conducted a virtual programme titled as “Speak to Impress yourself and Others”.
The virtual programme was hosted by talented Abeer Al Matroshi, self-discovery and talents trainer with the aim of sharpening the personalities and characters of youth aged from 13 to 18 years, in addition to enhancing their self-confidence and enabling them to confidently share their ideas without any fears or hesitations.

The programme included important topics like definition of public speaking, how to be mentally ready, self-confidence, type of fears, signs and how to overcome them and lastly the important tools individuals should have to speak up without fear or embarrassment.

One of the interesting points discussed by Al Matroshi was that awareness, self-acceptance, appreciation are important elements along with the use of the conscious mind in overcoming negative thoughts. Hence, imagining success, practicing, using different tone of voices, and moving while speaking are all some of the technique’s individuals can apply to be successful in public speaking.

By the end of the programme, participants had the chance to apply the knowledge gained through practical exercises, which encouraged them to speak up and overcome the fear of public speaking.
