Sharjah 24: Sharjah Police General Command won three awards as part of its participation in the 18th "Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work" (SAVW) for the year 2021, with 753 participants in the fields of volunteering opportunities and the most influential and distinguished initiatives.
The General Command achieved first place in the field of creating voluntary opportunities through "SANID" project (which means Support in Arabic). The project attracted 239 volunteers and 13517 hours. The General Command also achieved first place for the age-sensitive Public Transport Initiative transporting bedridden elderly from their homes to health facilities.
Sharjah Police Sciences Academy achieved fifth place in the field of the best government institution initiating a voluntary work for launching “Sanadcom” initiative, aiming at sheltering the affected workers who lost their jobs due to the Corona pandemic providing them with housing, health and food supplies.
His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, extended thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and to H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, for allowing the community, individuals and institutions to participate in SAVW, whereas it represents a noble human value.
Major General Al Shamsi confirmed that Sharjah Police is keen to participate annually in SAVW in order to achieve the vision of the wise leadership aimed at strengthening the position of volunteer work and consolidating volunteer culture among individuals and institutions in Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates in general.
The Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police praised the efforts and cooperation of the working teams that contributed to achieve the Award, stressing that it was achieved thanks to cooperation, determination and will to build a society based on solidarity and security.
