Sharjah 24: Within the framework of the UAE’s keenness to stand by the poor people around the world, the Sharjah Charity International (SCI) implemented many charitable projects and provided a package of vital aid to the poor.
This came in line with directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to spread the principles of solidarity and establish the values of cooperation and compassion called for by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The value of the external projects provided by SCI during the first half of 2021 amounted to about 140.3 million dirhams.
Mohammed Hamdan Al Zari, Director of Projects and Kafala Department at SCI, stressed that SCI strives to reach the needy all over the world without discrimination between gender or colour, noting that all external projects undertaken by SCI come under direct directives from Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the SCI’s Board of Directors.
Al Zari revealed that the projects implemented during the first half of 2021 went to the benefit of dozens of poor countries around the world, which included the construction of 1,030 mosques as part of SCI’s efforts to provide the people of remote areas with places of worship, at a total cost of about 72.1 million dirhams. In addition to digging 9034 various wells, with a value of one million dirhams. SCI is also extending a water network and desalination plants that provide clean water to remote villages.
He continued that SCI built, from the beginning of 2021 until the end of June, about 51 shelters for the homeless after earthquakes and disasters destroyed their homes, with the total cost of the house project amounted to about 3.6 million dirhams.
He maintained that SCI also carried out a number of endowment projects, which represented in the construction of about 78 charitable endowment stores worth one million dirhams, equipped with the necessary goods and delivered to a number of low-income families, as well as building 136 classrooms with a total value of about 7.2 million dirhams.
Al Zari added that SCI pays great attention to health projects, coordinating with embassies and SCI’s offices, to establish 7 health projects at a cost of 2.1 million dirhams, and spending 24,3 thousand dirhams to ensure the sponsoring of 25,701 persons since the beginning of 2021.
Al Zari also thanked all donors for their support to SCI's charity projects, which were central in their success and accomplishment.
