Sharjah 24: His Excellency Khalifa Sultan Al Jari, Secretary General of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, revealed the launch of the sports tournaments and competitions in the summer activity programme for the period from 1 to 26 August, which is affiliated with the Sharjah Sports Council of the Government of Sharjah.
His Excellency highlighted that the sports tournaments are a distinctive mark in the summer activities of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, which come within the holiday programme, especially when they are held remotely.
His Excellency stated that the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Club headed by Salem bin Howaiden is working to follow up on the various games and give competitions importance in light of the current trend of integrating sports with cultural and fun activities that bring happiness and benefit to young participants.
His Excellency reported that Al Dhaid Club's summer programme includes four sports tournaments that have been distributed to be a tournament every week for the duration of the programme.
During the first week, a chess tournament was launched, divided into two categories, the first from 8 to 10 years old, in which 95 players participated in the first day of the tournament. The second category competitions will start on Tuesday at 6 pm and for ages from 11 to 16 years.
A karate tournament will also be organised in the second week, which includes video shows of the karate performances, and the competitions will be judged by the club's coaches.
The fourth week to witness a football competition that includes competition for technical performance and the ability to control the ball for the longest possible time.
In the last week, a competition for group games (basketball, volleyball and handball) will be organised for ages 8 to 16, which can be individual or collective, provided that it does not exceed 3 players.
