Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs opened Al Qurtubi Mosque in Al Harai area of Khorfakkan, which was built on a total land area of 1,538 square metres at the expense of a benefactor.
This comes as part of the department's ongoing efforts to keep up with the Emirate of Sharjah's development plan, as it was built in a Islamic architectural style mixed with the modern architecture.
450 male and female worshippers can be accommodated in the mosque, which responds to the requirements of the areas's population, who are experiencing a rapid urban revival, and is a continuation of the Emirate's strategy of constructing mosques in all suburbs and regions.
Such endeavour realises His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah's aim of facilitating citizens' access to places of worship.
