Sharjah 24: The Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah opened Al Ajr Mosque in Al Nahda area, which can accommodate 1,000 worshippers, as part of the department’s plan for the current year, in response to the needs of the residents of the area, which is witnessing urban growth and population density.
His Excellency Abdullah Khalifa Yaroof Al Suboosi, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Affairs, witnessed the opening of the mosque, along with His Excellency Talib Ibrahim Al Marri, Director General of Department of Awqaf in Sharjah, and a number of officials.
The mosque was built at the expense of the Sharjah Awqaf Department, as part of the "Mosques of Direct Line Followers 2" campaign, organised by the department in cooperation with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
It was built on a total land area of 1,496 square metres, which includes the prayer hall and its service facilities. The prayer hall consists of two floors, and can accommodate 1,000 worshipers.
