Sharjah 24: Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, stressed that the media is a major partner in supporting the police's efforts in combating drugs, raising awareness of its dangers, and facing its various challenges.
“Everyone is a partner in containing and warding off the dangers of this scourge, which threatens the entity of families, and young generations, who are the promising hope in building the future,” Major General Al Shamsi added, calling on everyone to join hands and cooperate in the face of this dangerous scourge.

A  press conference was held, at the Leadership Hall at the Sharjah Police Officers’ Club,  Thursday morning, to unveil a major drug smuggling operation that was busted and aborted at one of Sharjah ports, and to reveal innovative projects in the field of drug control, in the presence of Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police; Brigadier General Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal, Director General of Police Operations; and Brigadier General Aref bin Hudaib, Director of Media and Public Relations.

Colonel Engineer Adel Al Mazmi, Acting Head of the Criminal Laboratory Department; Lieutenant-Colonel Majid Al-Asam, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department; Lieutenant-Colonel Amer Al Harmoudi, Director of the Special Rehabilitation Centre of Sharjah Police; a number of specialised officers, and representatives of local and foreign newspapers and media in the country, were also present at the press conference.

In an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24”, Major General Al Shamsi said, during the press conference, that a major drug case had been seized, and innovative projects and initiatives in the field of drug control were also reviewed.

Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police added that the “Smart Watch” initiative follows up on drug users after completing the treatment period in the rehabilitation centre, while the "Drug Fingerprint", an innovative project that holds intellectual property at the Ministry of Economy, aims to take preemptive measures to stop smuggling and exporting narcotic substances from their sources, so that the outputs are unified with internal and external partners from public and private agencies. He also unveiled the Poisonous Rope case.

Major General Al Shamsi affirmed that the UAE has the necessary components to prevent the entry of these toxic substances, which are considered a scourge for our youth and society, and thanked and appreciated all partners for the success of the mission.
