Sharjah 24: Sharjah Municipality revealed the launch of 12 solar LED billboards, during the first quarter of this year, which comes in line with its strategy to achieve sustainability and quality of life in Sharjah; and to achieve sustainable development and preserve the environment relying on renewable and clean energy sources, whereas a total number of 22 solar LED billboards were mounted in the first quarter.
Thabet Al Tarifi Director General of Sharjah Municipality, explained that there is a plan to implement and to annually upgrade the electronic billboards project, which reflects the Municipality role in achieving sustainable development and digital transformation.
In general, Sharjah Municipality pays special attention to billboards, whereas they play an important role in promoting various projects and services, and enhancing communication with the public, as the municipality supervises more than 543 billboards in various areas of Sharjah.
Khaled Al Shamsi, Director of the Property and Investment Department, explained that the Department is keen to continuously follow-up all billboards and the displayed advertisements; and to ensure the validity of the advertisement content in terms of sound, correct language, how the content relates to the culture of the community and not distorting the general appearance.
Al Shamsi noted that 1,385 permits were issued and renewed for the advertising companies, during the first quarter of this year. These permits included vehicle and motorcycle posters, roads and rooftops advertisements.
