Sharjah24: Khaled Khalil Al Hosani, speaking at the "Innovation and Thinking”, the first session of Academic Specializations Fair (ASFV), organised by Sharjah Public Libraries in affiliation with the Sharjah Book Authority, between May 29 and June 3, urged the students to engage in innovative practices by thinking outside the box, testing every idea, putting every concept to the test, no matter how outlandish, and attempting to turn problems into opportunities.
The session was held in the Khorfakkan Library Saturday morning through “Zoom" platform, with high school students and university students; who are planning to study in UAE. According to Al Hosani, the UAE has made innovation and creativity an added value of a vital role in the national economy and societal growth. Innovation is one of the primary axes of the UAE's 2021 vision, and it has been adopted as a work culture and a way of life.
He discussed the factors that kill creativity and innovation, such as low self-confidence, feelings of inferiority, lack of knowledge, hesitation, constant intellectual preoccupation, rejection of new ideas, lack of responsibility, and lack of ambition. He also pointed out five methods of innovation; serious work, allocating time for creativity, playing games, accepting mistakes, and figuring out how to overcome hurdles.
Al Hosani wrapped off the discussion by laying out the steps for creating new projects, which include a brainstorming session, gathering all essential materials, conducting research, creating a project card, following up, and taking notes before beginning the development process. The expo features thirteen universities, colleges, and institutes from around the UAE, with the goal of increasing students' knowledge of academic subjects, talents, and employment related with them.
