Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), Khorfakkan Branch, organised a Ramadan session entitled "Ramadan Zaman" , in which heritage researcher Fatima Al-Mughni, researcher and poet Abdullah Al-Hamour addressed the audience. Media specialist, Maryam Allai moderated the session, focusing on the beauty of the holy month of Ramadan with its various past customs and habits.
The session, which met a remarkable vital interaction from participants, was attended by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, and a number of dignitaries, departments’ directors and the Institute's staff.
Khaled Ahmed Obaid Al Shehhi, Director of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Khorfakkan Branch, said that the Ramadan session is a part of the branch’s agenda and plan that go hand-in-hand with the Institute’s agenda covering various practical, academic, scientific and knowledge fields.
Al Shehhi added that the Sharjah Institute for Heritage is keen to be present in the holy month through activities, programmes and events rhyming with the month of Ramadan.
Researcher, Fatima Al-Mughni, tackled the importance, value and nature of customs and traditions that prevailed in the past during the month of Ramadan. She also discussed their social life at that time, and how people used to communicate and interact with each other.
Discussing the literature and poetry in the past during Ramadan, Abdullah Al-Hamour noted that Ramadan evening sessions turn into open discussions and platforms for knowledge and vital interaction.
