Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), mentioned that His Excellency Mana Saeed Al Otaiba, the Private Advisor to the President of UAE, has always been so creative and he renewed poetry in the Gulf.
Al Otaiba is a great classic Arabic poet who is distinguished by the choice of his words and topics.  He is one of the most notable poets in the Arab world and many Gulf and Arab singers sang his poems.

Al Musallam pointed out, in an episode of “Shadu Al Huruf” devoted to the poet, that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan encouraged Dr. Mana Saeed Al Otaiba to write Nabati (vernacular) poetry, in 1969.

He also explained that the difficult circumstances he went through, after his wealthy life when his family worked in pearl trade, motivated him to be so creative.

Al Musallam shed light on Al Otaiba's career and education, and he explained that the poet started his studies in the United Kingdom, then he studied at the College of Economics and Political Science in the University of Baghdad. After his graduation, he held the position of the head of Petroleum Department in the Abu Dhabi government. Then he obtained a Master's Degree from the College of Economics and Political Science of Cairo University, and PhD from the same university for his thesis, “Petroleum and the Economics of the United Arab Emirates".

Despite the great tasks that he undertook, he remained a great lover of poetry, and his poems continued to reflect the richness of standard classics Arabic even when he writes Nabati (Vernacular) poetry.
