Sharjah24: Coming from the Nubia region, which is geographically located between Egypt and Sudan, to settle in the Gulf countries and take its place as one of the folklore arts; The art of "Nuban" has arrived in the UAE, as Ali Al Abdan, Director of the Artistic Heritage Department at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, tells "Sharjah 24" in the first episodes of the heritage programme "The Voice of the Past ... Stories of Emirati Folk Art", which we begin with the story of Nuban art.
Al Abdan explains that the "Nuban" or Al Tanboura is an art that depends on two types of musical instruments, the first being Al Tanboura, among the stringed sounds in musicology, which is the main melodic instrument, in addition to the percussion instruments, which are: the head drum for basic rhythm, and the middle for cubing, which is to fill the gaps in the rhythm of the head drum, the mujinboh drum for decoration, which is part of the membrane sound, and finally what is known as the "maniyor", which is a leather belt of sheep's nails that the player accompanying the band shakes to give a sound.

The Director of the Artistic Heritage Department added that this art is based on several varied rhythms, including: Al Qadiri, Abyssinian and Nubian, and men and women participate in live performances.
