Sharjah24: Salem Al-Dhanin, head of the agriculture and gardens department in the Khorfakkan Municipality, revealed that work has begun to increase the green area in the vicinity of the Khorfakkan Children's Park project, which is located in Khorfakkan Square, below the resistance monument.
In exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24", he explained that supplying the project with green spaces comes within the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to increase the green carpet to enhance the aesthetic and environmental aspects of the city.
He explained that the municipality’s plan for the current year includes a number of agricultural and afforestation projects for the mountains, and planting and afforestation work continues in the vicinity of the city’s entrance and main square, in addition to planting the areas designated for resting Al Rafisa Dam, and strengthening neighborhood gardens with green spaces.
Regarding the municipality’s efforts during the past year, Al Dhanin referred to the implementation of a package of agricultural projects, which resulted in an increase in the green area in Khorfakkan by about 200 thousand square meters, bringing the total green areas in the city to about one and a half million square meters.
