SCM launches 1st phase of a sewage sludge treatment project

Sharjah24: Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) announced the launch of the first phase of the new sewage sludge treatment system project with modern international specifications and standards, as part of its development projects for this year and according to the strategic plan, aiming to implement best international practices in wastewater treatment in line with the urban renaissance and population growth in the smiling emirate.
This also reflects the Municipality’s keenness to provide the best services in launching vital projects


The launch of the first phase of the project was attended by Thabet Salem Al Tarifi, Director-General of the Sharjah Municipality, in the presence of assistants to the general manager and a number of officials in the Municipality. 


In this context, Thabet Salem Al Tarifi stressed that the project reflects the Municipality’s keenness to adopt the best international practices in wastewater treatment, contributing in promoting the agriculture and environment sector through implementing vital projects in line with urban development and the increase in population numbers, translating the Municipality’s strategic plan to achieve sustainable development. 


Al Tarifi explained that this project is characterized by the system’s low energy consumption and its use of the least possible land area, not exceeding 20% of the existing space compared to the previous systems.
