Sharjah 24: Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer at Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) announced that the opening of the House of Wisdom in the Emirate of Sharjah comes in line with Emirate earning the title “World Book Capital” by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
In exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24", Al Qaseer pointed out that the House of Wisdom is an innovative cultural project, and embodies the latest model for future libraries in the world. In addition to being, an architectural masterpiece added to the great number of masterpieces in the Emirate of Sharjah, and it consists of a modern library that includes 64 thousand books, along great number of digital books, which include more than 200,000 titles.
The Chief Operating Officer at Shurooq added that the House of Wisdom building consists of several sections, which includes a book espresso section, which is a very modern device, through which anyone who owns the rights to a book can print it in 5 minutes. He highlighted that the project also includes a laboratory for 3D printing, as well as "CNC" printing, and laser printing. He indicated that there will be many workshops and areas for children, whether for reading or for workshops.
Al Qaseer continued that the House of Wisdom depends on technology, as books can be reserved and borrowed, via the application or the website, along with the reservation of parking spaces and meeting rooms. He noted also that there are community sites that can be used.
Al Qaseer emphasised that the main goal of the House of Wisdom project is to create a unique experience, whether for those wishing to study or for private meetings with friends, by taking advantage of the café and restaurant in the contemporary library.
