Al Wusta Channel, part of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), was set up to serve the Central Region of Sharjah, and this season leans hard into that mandate: Emirati identity, Bedouin heritage and the everyday life of the region's desert communities.
The channel traces its founding to directives from His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who called for a dedicated media platform to capture the Central Region's heritage, history and distinct Bedouin character. Over ten years, the station built an identity around recording the accounts and knowledge of the older generation while tracking the rapid development sweeping the region's towns.
Several new titles anchor this season. Al Odoud revives memories tied to the wells and water sources that shaped life in the desert. Up Close turns its lens on forts, landmarks and development projects across the Central Region.
Al Wusta in a Week rounds up the region's main events and community activity, while We Learn From You brings in guests from different fields to share their experience. A Story and a Lesson offers awareness-driven content, and The Winds of Al Sharta explores the region's traditions and desert environment in more depth. Agriculture gets its own slot in Farms of Al Wusta, alongside guided features in Landmarks of Al Wusta and wildlife coverage in Wilds of Al Wusta.
The new titles sit alongside an established roster. The morning show Al Wusta Diaries anchors the weekday schedule, while heritage and poetry get heavy coverage through Camels and People, Al Sari, Stories from the Desert, Poets' Council, A Poet's Journey, Glimmer of Memory, Al Araba, The Little Trainer, Shade of the Ghaf Tree, Swalif Masiyan, The Sage Says, Morning Coffee and Our Elders' Gathering.
Nature and community life feature in Season of Rain, Traditional Dishes, Al Marwah, Al Wusta Clubs, Educational Features and A Book's Story, while religious programming continues with Noor Al-Quran, The Virtue of Supplications and "Quranic Reflections".
Al Ketbi said the anniversary marks ten years of media output built on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and reaffirmed the channel's commitment to preserving national identity and the character of Emirati heritage and environment. He said the 32 programmes reflect a belief that strong television content turns the stories of a place and its people into a lasting visual and cultural record, built through creative formats that respect the viewer and connect the past to the present. He added that the channel keeps pace with the region's development and major projects while working to pass on Bedouin values and ethics to the next generation.
He described the new season as a milestone that reflects the work of a specialised production team focused on cementing the channel's role as a leading platform for development and heritage, one that represents the Central Region's thriving present and promising future while safeguarding the authentic identity of the local community and its traditions.
