Sharjah Ruler directs amendment of bereavement leave

Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed the amendment of bereavement leave for employees of the Sharjah Government and universities in the Emirate.

Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, announced this through the Direct Line programme, explaining details of the new directive, which grants employees five days of leave in the event of a death inside the UAE and eight days if the death occurs outside the UAE.

He noted that the leave covers the employee’s first- and second-degree relatives, including grandparents, father, mother, uncles and aunts, brothers, sisters, husband, wife, son, daughter, nephews, nieces and grandchildren.
