Sharjah24: Sharjah Police has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arabic Language Educational Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah, aiming to sharpen the linguistic and writing skills of its staff and deepen knowledge exchange between the two institutions.

Brigadier Faisal bin Nassar, Director General of the General Department of Community Protection and Prevention, signed on behalf of Sharjah Police. Dr Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of ALECGS, signed for the centre. The ceremony was attended by Brigadier Dr Tariq Al Midfa, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Community Protection and Prevention; Brigadier Dr Mohammed Butti Al Hajeri, Director of the Security Media Department; and Colonel Dr Muammar Hamad Al Muzeini, Deputy Director of the Decision Support Department.

Building on academic partnerships

Bin Nassar said the agreement grows out of Sharjah Police's efforts to forge working relationships with specialist academic and knowledge institutions and draw on their expertise to develop police staff. He said cooperating with ALECGS would help sharpen institutional writing and raise the standard of the force's knowledge content and publications, supporting a leadership push to invest in staff development and build a culture of continuous learning.

MOU terms

The memorandum sets out several strands of cooperation. Sharjah Police and ALECGS will work together on the linguistic proofreading of studies and scientific publications, following recognised research methodologies. The two sides will also exchange knowledge, publications and expertise across linguistic, educational and community fields and run joint training programmes, seminars and lectures.

A further strand focuses on Sharjah Police command staff directly: the agreement commits the force to developing their administrative writing skills, including how they draft correspondence and security reports.
