Sharjah24: Intisar Moeen Al Obaidli, Curator of the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation, said the Sharjah Museums Authority is organising the two-day “Let’s Live Together” initiative on 12 and 13 September to coincide with International Sign Language Day.

The initiative features events at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation and the Sharjah Science Museum, aimed at promoting the inclusion of deaf people and making museum experiences more accessible to them.

Speaking exclusively to Sharjah24, Al Obaidli said today’s programme at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation included two panel discussions focusing on the rights of deaf people and ways to enhance accessibility to museum experiences, as well as on listening to their experiences and perspectives on further developing these experiences.

The curator added that the programme includes guided tours conducted in sign language, as well as training participants in its basics, to help strengthen communication and provide a more inclusive museum experience.

Al Obaidli noted that the initiative continues tomorrow, Sunday 13 September, at the Sharjah Science Museum with the “Science Challenge with Families” programme. The event offers an interactive experience that combines science, entertainment and shared learning in a family-friendly, inclusive environment for all.
