Sharjah 24: Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has announced the opening of registration for the 18th edition of its Sharjah Museums Ambassadors Programme, one of its leading educational programmes for young people. Registration will be open from June 29 to July 9, 2026, with programme activities taking place from July 13 to 16, 2026, concluding on July 20, 2026.

Providing diverse educational experiences

The programme targets Arabic-speaking youth aged 13 to 17 and will be held at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation, Sharjah Aquarium, and Sharjah Archaeology Museum. This reflects the diverse educational experiences offered by SMA museums in the fields of civilisation, history, and marine sciences, and provides participants with the opportunity to benefit from multiple enriching museum environments. Their educational and training experience is part of a programme that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application in a stimulating, interactive environment based on experiential learning.

The programme includes a series of training sessions and practical activities that allow participants to learn about the concept of a museum and its role, basic museum terminology, guiding and tour planning skills, and how to handle various situations during tours. Participants also learn about experiential learning methods and how to utilize them to enrich the museum experience. Furthermore, they will undergo practical training in preparing and delivering guided tours, enabling them to apply their acquired skills and knowledge in real-world settings.

The programme concludes with guided tours led by the participants to the public within the museum. This practical experience demonstrates their understanding of the training content and their ability to communicate effectively with visitors and present the artifacts in an informative and interactive manner.

Cultivating a generation aware of the importance of museums

The continuation of the "Sharjah Museums Ambassadors" programme underscores its success over previous sessions and the passion, commitment, and genuine desire demonstrated by the participants to learn about museum work and develop their personal and professional skills. Building on this success, SMA continues to develop and expand the programme's impact by offering updated and specialised training content in cultural guiding and museum interaction. The programme also provides opportunities for training, volunteering, and participation in cultural events hosted by its museums. The Authority aims to cultivate a generation aware of the importance of museums and their role in preserving heritage and disseminating knowledge, and to strengthen young people's connection to the cultural and social landscape, thus opening up promising future prospects for them in the cultural and museum sector.

The Authority invites those interested in participating to register within the specified period, emphasising that the number of places is limited and that the program represents a unique opportunity to acquire specialised skills in guiding, communication, presentation, and display, as well as to build a deeper relationship with museums and their cultural and educational role in society.
