Sharjah 24: Sharjah Children, affiliated with the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, delivered a comprehensive line-up of programmes and events during the first half of 2026 that combined learning with creativity, reaching more than 7,209 children and reflecting its commitment to raising conscious generations equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the demands of the future.

Over the period, the foundation ran more than 73 programmes and events for children aged six to 12, including 66 specialised programmes with 4,560 participants spanning the arts, sport, science and technology, literature and languages, life skills, and theatre – an integrated learning experience focused on uncovering talent, nurturing creativity, and building leadership qualities in children.

Enriching experience and nurture talent

The arts track featured a range of creative workshops that drew wide engagement, most notably photography workshops run in partnership with the "Fann" Foundation and pottery painting in collaboration with the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, alongside the "Basamat Min Turathi" and Ebru art collage workshops, among others that helped sharpen the children's artistic sense and creativity.

In sport, participants took part in a variety of training experiences, including horse riding, judo, taekwondo and swimming, in addition to sports incubator programmes and the professional swimming pool, helping build their physical abilities and motor skills.

Under the literature and languages track, a series of cultural and educational workshops was delivered, most notably “A Journey with the Quran”, in partnership with the Sharjah Institute for the Quran and Sunnah, along with the “Among the Stars", “Diaries” and “Digital Stories” workshops, as well as reading workshops aimed at developing children’s reading and expression skills.

In science and technology, children took part in specialised programmes such as Kumon and “The Journey of Exploration and Scientific Experiments” and “Programming Adventures”, strengthening their scientific thinking, innovation skills and use of modern technology.

Children also developed personal and practical skills through varied workshops under the life skills track, including Kokedama, which introduced them to innovative planting techniques, as well as carpentry and cooking workshops and the “Adventure Series”. This was complemented by training programmes for members of the Sharjah Children’s Shura Council, focusing on dialogue and communication skills, expressing opinions, and actively participating in discussions on issues and ideas.

The foundation also organised theatre, performing arts and music activities, alongside seasonal programmes, camps and joint projects with Rubu’ Qarn’s affiliated institutions.

Community events and competitive achievements

On the events front, the foundation held seven high-quality events and initiatives during the first half of the year, attracting more than 2,709 children. These included the Sharjah Children’s Festival, the Mid-Sha’ban Night event, the Fun Bus, and Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, alongside community gatherings and educational initiatives aimed at reinforcing national and social values.

On the competitive side, around 133 children took part in 12 local and international awards and competitions, winning nine medals. Notable results came at the Taekwondo Federation Cup, the Judo Federation Cup, the Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Award for Child Creativity, and the Environmental Drawing Competition, among other local and international contests.

Khawla Al Hawai: quality programmes that meet children's needs

Khawla Sharif Al Hawai, Director of Sharjah Children, said the results achieved during the first half of the year reflect the foundation's continued commitment to delivering quality programmes that keep pace with children's needs and help shape their personalities and build their capabilities across different fields.

She said: "We work to provide an inspiring learning environment that gives children real opportunities to discover their talents, develop their skills, and go through varied experiences that strengthen creative thinking, initiative and teamwork. We believe that investing in children is an investment in the future of society, which is why we're keen to offer fresh programmes that keep pace with the aspirations of new generations and open up wider horizons for learning and innovation."

She added that the results achieved by Sharjah Children's members in various events and championships reflect the quality of the programmes on offer and serve as motivation to continue developing initiatives and activities during the second half of the year, strengthening children's presence at local and international events and enabling them to achieve further accomplishments.

She concluded by extending her sincere thanks and appreciation to parents as the foundation's core partners, alongside its partners from government and private institutions, affirming that their support and cooperation form a fundamental pillar in achieving a lasting impact on children's development and empowerment.
