Sharjah 24: Al Qasimia University (AQU) welcomed students arriving in the UAE from around the world to mark the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, with university field teams stationed at the country’s airports to ensure their safe and smooth arrival.

The teams facilitated students’ transfer from various airports to university accommodation, completed their housing arrangements, introduced them to campus facilities and services, and provided essential supplies to help them begin their university journey in a safe and stable environment.

As classes began, the university completed its academic and technical preparations, equipping classrooms, laboratories and educational facilities to provide an integrated learning environment that meets the requirements of its diverse academic programmes and specialisations.

Prof. Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, said the start of the new academic year reflects the university’s continued academic journey under the ongoing support of its founder, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which has contributed to expanding its global presence.

He added that the university has students from more than 140 nationalities, creating a multicultural community that promotes moderation, tolerance and coexistence, while enabling students to exchange knowledge and experiences in an environment that respects cultural and civilisational diversity.

He said the university is focusing this academic year on enhancing the quality of its educational programmes, advancing research and innovation, strengthening international cooperation, and integrating artificial intelligence applications into education and scientific research to support its strategic goals and enhance its academic and community impact.

As part of preparations for the new academic year, he met with current and newly appointed faculty members, stressing the importance of continuing the initiative to integrate AI technologies into teaching and student assessment, while enhancing research output and international cooperation and directing research towards community issues and needs.
