Twenty male and female students took part in the programme's first course, which concluded last week with their graduation after completing a five-day training programme. During the course, they gained essential knowledge and skills about the aviation sector, explored its key fields and career opportunities, and received theoretical instruction supported by field visits that gave them first-hand insight into aviation operations, enhancing their understanding of the sector's practical aspects.

The programme forms part of initiatives stemming from the recommendations and outcomes of the youth forum, held last April under the theme "Empowering Youth in the Aviation Sector". It aims to introduce students to opportunities within the aviation industry, foster their interest in its specialisations and fields, and help prepare a new generation of promising national talent to play a vital role in supporting the future of the aviation sector.

The programme was developed and delivered in coordination with several organisations in the education and training sectors, including universities and the Sharjah Private Education Authority. Participants were selected according to specific criteria to ensure the programme attracted students with a genuine interest in aviation and maximised its benefits.

The Aviation Sector Awareness Programme comprises three training courses involving around 60 students, with 20 participants in each five-day course. The first course, dedicated to school students, concluded last week, while the programme will continue until the end of August with additional courses for students from the University of Sharjah, the American University of Sharjah, and the Higher Colleges of Technology.

The programme includes a range of specialised training modules, providing a comprehensive overview of the aviation sector, introducing flight simulators and their operation, reviewing various aviation processes, and covering the fundamentals of aircraft safety. It also combines theoretical learning with practical applications to deepen students' understanding of careers in the field. In addition, participants visit several aviation organisations, including Air Arabia and the Rescue and Firefighting Department at Sharjah International Airport, to gain first-hand insight into operational activities and related specialisations.

The programme reflects the outcomes of the youth forum organised by the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department's Youth Council in cooperation with the Sharjah Youth Council last April, which recommended strengthening young people's participation in the aviation sector through training and knowledge initiatives that help prepare national talent and support the sector's future.
