The programme targets young people aged 12 to 18. Through this edition, the authority aims to train 75 participants, with 15 in each city, over a three-week programme running from 20 July to 4 August. The programme will be held in Sharjah, Al Hamriyah, Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Dibba Al Hisn, in cooperation with local fishers' cooperative societies.
The programme includes a range of educational workshops, interactive activities, practical training sessions, and field visits, providing participants with a comprehensive learning experience that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on application, develops their skills, and reinforces the values of responsibility, teamwork, and marine environmental conservation.
The authority said the "Future Fishermen" programme is one of its flagship initiatives, designed to prepare a generation that understands the value of the sea and its resources, takes pride in its national identity and maritime heritage, and appreciates the principles of responsible fishing and the importance of preserving marine resources and ensuring their sustainability.
The Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA) continues to implement community and awareness initiatives that support the sustainability of the fisheries sector, promote environmental awareness, and preserve the UAE's maritime heritage among younger generations, in line with its vision to build a more environmentally conscious and sustainable society.
