Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of the match at Gillette Stadium, Ouahbi said: “Everyone is 100% fit except Saibari. This match has come too soon for him, but I hope he will not miss the remainder of the tournament.”
Saibari, who recently joined Bayern Munich from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven on a five-year deal reportedly worth around €50 million ($57 million), has been one of Morocco’s standout performers at the tournament.
The attacking midfielder scored in each of Morocco’s three group-stage matches and converted the decisive penalty in the shootout victory over the Netherlands in the Round of 32.
However, he suffered a hamstring injury early in Morocco’s 3-0 win over Canada in the Round of 16 last Saturday and has not recovered in time for the clash with France.
Forward Soufiane Rahimi replaced Saibari in that match and went on to score Morocco’s third goal.
The Atlas Lions will be looking to avenge their 2-0 defeat to France in the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
